Host: Bird & Bird Law Firm, Sundkrogen 2, 2100 København Ø

Blockchain has been described as the technology with the greatest potential to change our daily lives since the internet

But what exactly is the blockchain, and what could the impact be on various industries?

Blockchain event DABF

At this well-attended event, we heard first from Martin von Haller Groenbaek, Partner, Bird & Bird Copenhagen, who took us beyond the hype into the details of the history of blockchain, how it works, security and technical challenges, real-world applications, legal hurdles and key takeaways.  He touched on smart contract cases including automotive, energy and utilities, property and rentals as well as cryptocurrencies, issues surrounding personal data and ownership, and regulatory compliance around blockchain.

Next we heard from Nicolas Buhmann, Commercial Manager – Global Trade Digitization – Maersk, about how Maersk is using blockchain to boost efficiency in global trade. He is currently managing a project to develop a platform with IBM for sharing supply chain related events and documents by using blockchain technology.

Hope you enjoyed this inspirational session and learned more about how blockchain might affect your industry!
