Attracting Best Talent in US

Date: 14 Nov 2017, 8:30 - 12:00

Host: Arla Foods Copenhagen office, Sluseholmen 8, 2450 København SV

How can you attract and retain the best employees to drive your business, especially as you expand into the US?

According to LinkedIn and Lippincott Study, the top 100 companies experienced an 87% increase in applications and a 35% increase in sales over a 5-year period when their corporate brand, consumer brand, and employer brand were aligned. Moreover, when a company has a strong purpose, 30% of the talents are more likely to be high performers, and 11% have longer tenure.

A good crowd of DABF members participated in this seminar kindly hosted by ArlaFoods in Copenhagen, to learn more about how top companies are able to attract talents that are intrinsically committed from day one, irrespective of their cultural backgrounds.

Danish-American Business Forum Employer Branding for growth in US

Mark Ronan, co-founder of strategic positioning, brand and marketing consultancy Quadric, drew inspiration from iconic companies such as Nike, Tesla and Airbnb, who have built strong differentiation into their recruitment, and then presented in-depth the Dentsply Sirona case, which was about building one brand with a single purpose from the merger of an American and a German company with multiple brands each.

Hanne Fuglsang, Senior Consultant at Arla Foods’ Global Talent Management, then took us through how Arla has moved to a Vision of  “Creating the Future of Dairy to bring Health and Inspiration to the World Naturally”, and how this plays out in talent acquisition and retention, through a new Employer Value Proposition with 4 pillars.  At Arla, talent is an issue at leadership level, not just being driven by HR, so that commitment is helping ensure engagement as Arla gradually rolls the program out globally.

Both cases illustrated how having a strong Employee Value Proposition (EVP) that clearly supports the company’s Mission and Vision, is an effective tool for attracting, retaining, and activating the right candidates.
