2017 Global AIPLA Networking Event – Celebrate Women in IP!
An encore for this very successful AIPLA networking event, running since 2015, this event was hosted at Awapatent’s new location on Christianshavn in Copenhagen, to celebrate women working in IP (Intellectual Property) around the world. NOTE: THE EVENT WAS NOT FOR WOMEN ONLY!
This time Awapatent featured an inspirational session with keynote speaker Christiane Vejlø, director of Elektronista Media, one of Denmark’s leading experts on new technology, digital lifestyles, and the relationship of people with technology. She’s a well-known speaker and strategic advisor, helping companies, media and ministries learn how to accept and create opportunities within the digital future.
Christiane took us on a whirl-wind tour of how the world and our lives are changing through the use of new technology. She covered, among many other things, virtual reality, virtual assistants, AI, robots, and the concept of upgrading ourselves, our equipment, and our experiences. It was a fascinating look at the future, bringing both optimism a well as some degree of concern. Her recommendation for all businesses: LISTEN to your consumers, KNOW them, CONNECT them, SURPRISE them, MAKE THEM FEEL. And if you are wise, you will involve the digital native generation in your business NOW, or you will be disrupted before you know it!
The event was especially for IP specialists, in-house counsel, outside counsel, patent attorneys, paralegals, inventors as well as people who work with any aspect of IP. Also open to companies with challenges growing in the US, who might consider membership in Danish-American Business Forum. It was, as usual, a great evening of networking, inspiration and good food, with a chance to establish new and strengthen old relationships.
During the session, we linked-up by phone with other sites around Europe (Euro-vision style!) to hear how they were celebrating women in IP through AIPLA, the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
