Jarl also talked about trends like Artificial Intelligence invading professional services like Law and Medicine, the Gig Economy (more and more US companies are doing only short term project hiring to avoid the costs of full time employees), the Network Society and the Sharing Economy, freeing people from owning music, movies, cars, and more.sharing economy

He also mentioned the “she economy” – the fact that women account for 85% of purchases in the US, and that companies need to understand this factor and learn to market to women more effectively.

Jarl emphasized that Danish companies are well-positioned to attract US workers, especially because of the Danish culture that focuses on a more even work-life balance than US companies, and which is really important to millennials. According to Brookings Institution,  “Almost two-thirds (64 percent) of millennials said they would rather make $40,000 a year at a job they love than $100,000 a year at a job they think is boring,”

The presentation ended with a summary of 8 generic strategies that Danish companies can think about for tackling the US market.
